Frequently Asked Questions at Bodhi Khaya

 

1.     How long does it take to get to Bodhi Khaya?

From Cape Town, it takes around 2.5hours to Bodhi Khaya. At the moment there are roadworks between Hermanus and Stanford, so we would recommend going through Caledon. Please see the directions here.

 

2.     What time is Check-in and Check-out?  

Check-in is between 2-6pm on arrival

Check-out is after lunch on your day of departure (3pm)

 

3.     Are my meals included?

Yes! All personal stays are catered! You’ll receive 3 nourishing, vegetarian meals per day. We offer vegan options, please let us know if you prefer a vegan diet. Let us know of any allergies as well. 

 

4.     What can I do while I’m there?

From Magnificent mountains to explore and milkwood forests to get lost in, there is plenty to do at Bodhi Khaya. Walk our labyrinth or hiking trails, swim in our dams and suntan on the banks, plant a tree with us in memory of someone lost, loved or for yourself! Meditate! Join in our daily meditations or allow us to schedule in a private yoga session or massage. Bird watch and revel in the wonder that is the natural world. 

With nature on our doorstep, you’ll be entertained, wowed and already planning your next trip back to Bodhi Khaya. 

 

5.     What should I bring?

We do everything before you arrive to make your stay comfortable, however you might want to bring a few things from home to make it extra special. To ensure you have a comfortable stay with us remember to pack your sunscreen, hat, bathing suit, swimming towel, water bottle, raincoat, hiking boots, torch and mosquito repellent.

 

A significant help to our sustainability initiative would be to consider your toiletries and personal products and how they may affect the environment. Wherever possible please try to use all-natural, low odour products. These will support our bio-digester and water recycling systems, and ensure comfort for everyone on your retreat.

 

6.     Is it safe? 

Bodhi Khaya is situated on private land and the hiking and walking trails are perfectly safe to do solo. Our staff are serious about keeping you healthy! Aside from our sterling food that will boost your immunity, we take every care to ensure personal hygiene is maintained. We will all wear masks at all times and have sanitizer at the ready. 

 

7.     Can my kids come?

Bodhi Khaya welcomes children older than 12 years of age. Bodhi Khaya is a sanctuary and most of our guests prefer to practice noble silence when staying with us. 

 

8.     Can I bring my pets? 

No, Bodhi Khaya is not pet-friendly. We share the land with wild animals and we are unfenced, meaning that all wildlife is encouraged to move freely between neighbouring land. 

 

9.  Can I just come for the day? 

Yes! We would love to share Bodhi Khaya with you even if it is just for the day. Day passes are R50 per person.

 

10.  Do I have to come on a scheduled Retreat?  

No, you are welcome to come to Bodhi Khaya for a minimum of 2 nights to simply getaway from the City or come and enjoy the quiet countryside.

 

11.  Do you have Self-Catering units?

Yes! Sunbird Cottage sleeps four people in two bedrooms.

 

12.  Is the water there drinkable? 

Yes. It’s delicious and fresh.
