I have lived at Bodhi Khaya for over a year now, and I am so happy to call it my home. I enjoy being in nature and helping out where I can. I enjoy giving the plants love by watering them, and I love looking after the two dogs, Oobie and Luna, who live on the farm.

I am a Bodhi Khaya student who fell in love with cooking. Cooking was never my dream, but I`ve learned that nobody is born a great cook, it is learnt by doing it. I like going for a swim and watching soccer.

I love the small details and intricacies of nature and Bodhi Khaya has always had a special kind of magic for me and I love being part of the team. My inner Virgo is happy to keep the admin running smoothly and to ensure that everyone can experience the returning home to nature effortlessly and efficiently.

Since returning to South Africa in 2013, after a busy life in London, I have spent the last 9 years working in retreat centres around the country. The Buddhist Retreat Centre was my home for many years, and now that I have moved down to the Cape to settle, I have been warmly welcomed by beautiful Bodhi Khaya. I lend a hand wherever it is needed, whether that be general maintenance, driving or teaching Chi Kung.

MICHAEL

I am originally from Germany and now in South Africa for over 20 years. Since the beginning of 2021, I have rejuvenated the vegetable garden and made it productive once again. I grow everything organically, concentrating on sustainable soil health. This automatically bares healthy crops for our nourishing Retreat kitchen. I also help maintain the buildings and equipment as a general handy man. Together with my wife Alex and my daughter Salome, I live at Camphill Farm Hermanus, a community for people with special needs.

Finding Bodhi Khaya has felt like coming home to my heart. Marketing this beautiful place and guiding guests on their yoga mats feels more like purpose work than a ‘job’. The conscious love I feel for this place is reflected back to me by the breathtaking natural beauty that surrounds. I wake up and go to bed with so much gratitude to be a part of this special community that is both expansive and nurturing. I was guided to this place by my heart, and while I am here, I allow my heart to continue to lead.
