The Gift of regeneration
We are partnering with our neighbours and land stewards of Platbos Forest to reforest and rehabilitate the original indigenous coastal species forest that once existed on the land of Bodhi Khaya. The land of Bodhi Khaya Retreat is the link between the old growth stands of the Platbos Reserve and Grootbos Reserve. We intend to do our part to expand and reconnect the small remaining remnants of indigenous forest at Bodhi Khaya to these reserves. Our Dana Forest plan is to plant 10,000 milkwood trees per year for the next 30 years - 300,000 plus trees, and remove all obstacles, threats and limitations to the natural expansion of the existing small clusters. A single tree can absorb as much as 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and can sequester 1 ton of carbon dioxide by the time it reaches 40 years old. You can help sequester over 300,000 tons of carbon! 100% of your donation will go directly toward the Regeneration Initiative. Bodhi Khaya Retreat is an active member of the Walker Bay Fynbos Conservancy(WBFC) located on the southern tip of Africa. Situated in the heart of the conservancy, we hold a unique seat in a diverse circle of environmentally committed members. Our primary commitment is to do our part to fulfill the ideals of the conservancy’s mission on the 217 Ha of land we are responsible for stewarding. Secondly, we do whatever we can to support the conservancy and its members to care for this extraordinary bioregion of the world.

Carbon emissions reduction through alternative energy production and sustainable waste management
Water conservation and organic permaculture systems
Education & Social/Economic upliftment projects
Reduction of harmful chemical and environmental pollutant use
