The Vernal Equinox - 22 September 2020

“Spring won’t let me stay in this house any longer! I must get out and breathe the air deeply again.”  (Gustav Mahler )

As the Spring Equinox demonstrates equally illuminated Hemispheres, we embrace balance. Today, the vernal equinox, we are held in perfect equilibrium between the sun and the moon. The sun awakens us and we turn to the sky to warm our skin as the days get longer and we are grateful to the moon to light even the darkest of nights.

The Cape weavers are building their nests. What looks like long trailing tails follow the males as they gather strand by strand of grass to build a safe home for their mates and young. The birds sing in chorus and our spring flowers are budding.

The Lockdown in South Africa has given us ample time to re-evaluate, re-energise and discover areas of strength. Conversely, we have had time to identify weakness. If one is devoid of weakness, how can we unearth strength? Learning to identify negativity is one thing and we must embrace the teachings of negativity and move forward focused on a positive light.

In the words of Glenn: Much has changed. So very much is still the same too. Life at the foot of our perfect, patient mountain is predictably beautiful and abundant. You’ll find some new places and faces, new hearts, walking with the same reliable steadiness in the familiar way you’ve come to know Bodhi. Its beautiful here. And even more radiant when we get to share the gentle wildness with you.

Harmony is restored. Bodhi Khaya is open once again and we are ready to receive you. Enjoy the freedom to safely wander our beautiful trails, swim in one of our abounding dams and delight in the peacefulness and sanctuary for the soul.
